I have a malware in my system, Norton Safety Search. It has made itself the administrator of my personal computer.

How can I remove it?

How can I see who is the organization that has my admin?

Please provide Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST) logs for analysis.

    https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-recovery-scan-tool/

Note: If you are using Edge or Chrome, SmartScreen may initially block the download. Click on the three dots next to the warning and select Keep => Click the Delete drop arrow => Keep anyway.

    • If your computer's language is not English, rename FRST64.exe to FRST64English.exe
    • Run the tool, leave the default settings, and press Scan.
    • Zip the logs, FRST.txt and Addition.txt, then upload to a cloud storage service like OneDrive, Google Drive or gofile.io
    • Post the share link.

To remove unwanted software like Norton Safety Search from your system, you can follow these steps:

    1. Uninstall the Software:
      • Select the Start button.
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
      • Look for Norton Safety Search in the list of installed applications. If you find it, select it and then click Uninstall.
    2. Check for Browser Add-ons:
      • Open your web browser (like Chrome, Firefox, or Edge).
      • Go to the extensions or add-ons section and look for any entries related to Norton Safety Search. Remove any suspicious or unwanted add-ons.
    3. Run a Malware Scan:
      • Use Microsoft Defender Antivirus to scan your computer for any remaining threats. Ensure that it is enabled and updated to the latest virus definitions.
      • You can perform a full scan by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection and selecting Scan options.
    4. Check User Accounts:
      • To see who has administrative privileges on your computer, go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users. Here, you can view other accounts and their types (Administrator or Standard).
    5. Clean Up:
      • If you still experience issues, consider using the Clean computer option in Windows Defender if it detects any threats. This option can help remove potential threats quickly.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may need to look into more advanced methods or seek professional assistance.
