Hello all, I need help with my Windows 11 speaker issue.

It started about 5 days ago, my speakers went silent. I can see the Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio) speaker soundbar moving and being installed on Windows 11. I tried the speakers on my laptop and they worked fine but for some reason my PC does not provide any sound what so ever. I tried reinstalling Windows 11 in hope that it would fix the issue, also the Realtek/Nvidia drivers are up to date. I have no more idea what to do, any suggestions?

Thank you in advance

Ciaran

    Hello,

Please visit your PC manufacturer's website to download and install the Audio drivers.

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

Could you please check if you can at least hear the test sound?

    1. Press the Windows + R keys, type mmsys.cpl, and click OK.
    2. Right-click your default audio output device (Realtek), then select Properties.
    3. Go to the Advanced tab and click Test.

Check whether the audio plays through your speakers.

Alternatively, type msinfo in the search bar on the taskbar and click Enter.

Post a screenshot of the resulting dialog box.

It sounds like you're experiencing a common issue with audio output on Windows 11. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check Audio Output Settings: Ensure that the correct playback device is selected. Right-click on the sound icon in the taskbar, select "Playback devices," and make sure your speakers are set as the default device.
    2. Update Audio Drivers: Since you mentioned that your drivers are up to date, it might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek audio drivers. You can do this through Device Manager by right-clicking on the Realtek device and selecting "Uninstall device." Then restart your PC, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
    3. Run the Audio Troubleshooter: Go to Settings > System > Sound, and scroll down to find the "Troubleshoot" option. This tool can help identify and fix common audio problems.
    4. Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, updates can fix underlying issues. Go to Settings > Windows Update and check for any available updates.
    5. Check Hardware Connections: Make sure that all cables are securely connected and that the speakers are powered on. You mentioned they work on your laptop, so this is likely fine, but it’s always good to double-check.
    6. Disable Audio Enhancements: Sometimes audio enhancements can cause issues. Right-click on the sound icon, select "Sounds," go to the "Playback" tab, select your speakers, click on "Properties," and then go to the "Enhancements" tab to disable all enhancements.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be worth checking if there are any compatibility issues with your audio hardware and Windows 11, especially if you have specific audio processing software installed.
