Limited documentation and unclear behavior of Azure SRE Agent – need deeper functional explanation

We are currently evaluating and configuring Azure SRE Agent, but we are facing challenges due to very limited and high-level documentation available publicly.

While we can see the configuration options and recommendations, it is not clear:

  • What each function or option actually does internally

How the decision-making or remediation logic works

What triggers specific actions

Real-world or production-level use cases and examples

Most of the available documentation feels generic and does not help in understanding how to apply this service in an actual enterprise scenario. There is also very little information available on forums, blogs, or Microsoft Learn.

Is Azure SRE Agent still in an early or preview stage where:

Detailed documentation is intentionally limited?

The service is expected to be configured mainly with Microsoft Support or FastTrack?

Are there any:

Detailed technical docs

Architecture diagrams

Execution flow explanations

Real-world examples

that can help teams understand and confidently use Azure SRE Agent in production?

Any guidance from Microsoft engineers or users who have implemented this successfully would be greatly appreciated. We are currently evaluating and configuring Azure SRE Agent, but we are facing challenges due to very limited and high-level documentation available publicly.

The Azure SRE Agent is currently in a preview stage, which may contribute to the limited and high-level documentation available publicly. This means that detailed technical documentation, architecture diagrams, execution flow explanations, and real-world examples may not be fully developed yet. The service is designed to assist with troubleshooting and improving the reliability of applications running on Azure Cosmos DB, but the documentation may not cover every aspect in depth.

The Azure SRE Agent provides several benefits, including automated diagnostics, actionable insights, and best practices recommendations. However, the specifics of its internal functions, decision-making logic, and triggers for actions may not be explicitly documented at this stage. Users are encouraged to engage with Microsoft Support or FastTrack for more tailored guidance and assistance during the configuration process.

For those looking for more comprehensive insights, it may be beneficial to explore the Azure SRE Agent's capabilities through practical use cases, such as performance troubleshooting, connectivity issues, and best practices guidance, as these scenarios can provide a clearer understanding of how to apply the service effectively in an enterprise context.

As the Azure SRE Agent evolves, it is likely that more detailed documentation and resources will become available to support users in implementing the service confidently in production environments.
