Regardless of whether I try to start Vegas Pro 17 or Vegas Pro 23, I am only greeted by the error messages shown below. I have already attempted several troubleshooting steps, including Windows repair, updating drivers, using compatibility mode, Visual C++ reinstall, System File Checker and a clean reinstallation, but the issue persists.

After Hours, simply installing the latest Visual C++ Redistributable V14 (both x86 and x64) was the fix.

There is no need to uninstall anything beforehand. Just run:

vc_redist.x86.exe

vc_redist.x64.exe

from the latest V14 version available here: https://learn.microsoft.com/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-supported-redistributable-version

I was able to repair the vc_redist.x86.exe, but the vc_redist.x64.exe was missing completely. After installing it, everything suddenly works again!

The error you are encountering with Sony Vegas related to ntdll.dll and the unmanaged exception (0xc0000005) can be indicative of several underlying issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this problem:

    1. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your Windows operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues with applications.
    2. Run System File Checker: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files. You can do this by running the command sfc /scannow in an elevated Command Prompt.
    3. Check for Disk Errors: Run the Check Disk utility to confirm there are no file system errors. You can do this by right-clicking the drive in File Explorer, selecting Properties, then Tools, and clicking on Check.
    4. Check for Sufficient Disk Space: Ensure that you have enough free space on your hard drive, as insufficient space can cause applications to malfunction.
    5. Reinstall Visual C++ Redistributables: Since you mentioned reinstalling Visual C++, ensure that you have the correct versions installed that are compatible with Sony Vegas.
    6. Run in Safe Mode: Try running Sony Vegas in Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if third-party applications or services are causing the conflict.
    7. Contact Support: If the problem persists after trying the above steps, consider reaching out to Sony Vegas support for further assistance, as they may have specific solutions for issues related to their software.

These steps should help you in diagnosing and potentially resolving the issue with Sony Vegas not starting due to the ntdll.dll error.
