I do not have the microsoft store website, and I cannot see if I am in S mode or not. I am trying to download lunar client and I cannot. When I try to download it, it says that the app you're trying to install isn't a microsoft-verified app. I also tried going to settings and apps and changing it to the anywhere button but it will still not work. Can anyone please help me?

Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

If your device is no longer in S mode, open the Settings app.

In the Settings search bar, type “Store”.

Select “Choose where to install apps from”.

Under Choose where to get apps, select Anywhere.

This setting should allow you install the software you downloaded online.

To install apps on Windows, you typically use the Microsoft Store. However, if you're encountering issues with installing apps that are not Microsoft-verified, it may be due to your device being in S mode. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

    1. Check if your device is in S mode: If your device is in S mode, it only allows apps from the Microsoft Store. To check this, go to Settings > System > About. If you see a note about S mode, you'll need to switch out of it to install apps from outside the Store.
    2. Switch out of S mode: If you want to install apps that are not verified by Microsoft, you can switch out of S mode. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and look for the option to switch out of S mode. Note that this action is irreversible.
    3. Install apps via Microsoft Store: If you are able to access the Microsoft Store, you can search for the app you want to install directly from there. Ensure you are signed in with a Microsoft account.
    4. Using WinGet: If you are comfortable with command-line tools, you can use the winget command-line package manager to install apps. You can search for the application you want to install using the command:
         winget search <App name>

      And to install it:
         winget install <App name>

    5. Verify settings: If you are trying to change settings related to app installations, ensure that you have the correct permissions and that any necessary settings are configured properly in the Settings app under Apps.

If you continue to face issues, consider checking your network settings or any firewall configurations that might be blocking access to the Microsoft Store or app downloads.
