Activate Office 2013 on new computer when old computer is nonfunctional.

My old computer with MS Office 2013 died. I have installed MS Office 2013 on my new computer, but I cannot activate it because it still is licensed to my old computer, which has died. How can I deactivate the license from the old computer? Activation by phone is no longer available and going to aka.ms/aoh is no help either. Suggestions?

To deactivate the license from your old computer and activate Office 2013 on your new computer, you can try the following steps:

    1. Contact Microsoft Support: Since your old computer is nonfunctional, you may need to reach out to Microsoft Support directly for assistance in deactivating the license associated with your old machine. They can help you transfer the license to your new computer.
    2. Use the Command Prompt: If you have access to the new computer, you can attempt to remove the existing product key using the Command Prompt. Open a Command Prompt window and run the following command:
      • For 64-bit Windows with 32-bit Office:
             cscript.exe "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office15\ospp.vbs" /dstatus

      • For 32-bit Windows or 64-bit Office with 64-bit Windows:
             cscript.exe "%ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Office\Office15\ospp.vbs" /dstatus

This will show you the status of the product key and may help in managing the activation.
    3. Check License Assignment: Make sure that you have the appropriate license assigned to your new computer. You can sign in to the Microsoft 365 portal and check the assigned licenses to ensure everything is set up correctly.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, contacting Microsoft Support is likely your best option to deactivate the old license and activate Office 2013 on your new computer.

I would indeed like to talk to someone at Microsoft Support to help transfer the license. What phone number would you recommend?
