Assuming you are using the locally installed desktop software the Menu Bar is hidden if the document window is maximized [or Focus View] is being used. Move the pointer to the very top of the screen to access it or reduce the size of the window. If you prefer, use the macOS keyboard shortcut Control+F2 [or fn**+Control+F2**] to toggle display of the Menu Bar On/Off.

Are you using a desktop edition of Word for Mac, or are you using Word for the Web running in a browser?

In the desktop software, you can show the Ribbon by choosing View>Ribbon from the macOS menu at the top of your screen.

Feel free to post a screen shot to show what you are seeing.

To access the Word menu bar on a Mac, make sure that your Word application is open and not in full-screen mode. If it is in full-screen mode, you can exit full-screen by moving your mouse to the top of the screen until the menu bar appears, then click the green button in the upper-left corner of the window to exit full-screen. Once you're back in windowed mode, the menu bar should be visible at the top of your screen, allowing you to access various Word functions such as File, Edit, View, and more.

If you continue to experience issues with the menu bar being obscured, it may be related to a recent update or settings in your Mac. You can try restarting Word or your Mac to see if that resolves the issue.
