Hello everyone,

I am currently trying to figure out how to bulk transfer photos from my Android phone to my computer which runs on Windows 11. I have more than 2000+ photos on my phone.

I've tried to look up some solutions online, but the ones I found were either outdated or not applicable to my situation. Therefore, I am turning to this knowledgeable community for guidance.

I understand that the process might be different depending on the type of Android device and its OS version, so for reference, I am using a Samsung Galaxy S22 running Android 12.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help.

All the photos taken by your phone are stored in a folder called DCIM. To transfer photos from an Android device to a PC using a USB cable, follow these steps:

Step 1: Connect your Android device to your PC using a USB cable. Make sure the cable is properly connected to both devices.

Step 2: On your Android device, you may see a notification that says "USB charging this device" or similar. Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the notification panel and tap on the USB notification.

Step 3: In the USB options, select "File Transfer" or "Transfer files" (the wording may vary depending on your device).

Step 4: On your PC, open a File Explorer or Finder window. The connected Android device should appear as a removable storage device or a separate device in the "This PC" or "My Computer" section.

Step 5: Double-click on the Android device icon to open it. You should see various folders and files. Look for a folder named "DCIM" (which stands for Digital Camera Images). This folder typically contains the photos and videos captured by your Android device's camera.

Step 6: Open the "DCIM" folder, and within it, you may find additional folders named "Camera" or other names that correspond to specific apps or folders where your photos are stored.

Step 7: Select the photos you want to transfer to your PC. You can hold down the Ctrl key and click on individual photos or press Ctrl+A to select all photos.

@Ashobe2yc, thanks for sharing the steps. I followed the exactly as you suggested and everything went fine. However, the copying action was only completed at about 70% and Windows says the connection was disconnected. This happened three times.

Another problem is that the photos in WhatsApp and Facebook are not visible in this way. Any suggestion?

    Hello

You can transfer your photos to your Windows computer in a few different ways.

    • You can plug your device into your PC via a USB cable and access the photos from your phone.
    • You can use the Windows Photos app to import the photos from your phone.
    • By default, your photos are automatically saved to Google Photos, from which you can download them to your PC.
    • If you tap into OneDrive, you're able to automatically upload new photos from your phone to the OneDrive Pictures folder.
    • And you can use Microsoft's Phone Link app to transfer your photos.

Finally, what is the effect you want to achieve?

There are free ways to transfer photos between Android phone and Windows 11 computer. I'm referring to Google Drive, USB and Bluetooth. Have you tried any of these on your device? Mind you, transferring 2000+ photos can take a long time to complete.
