Using the "find/replace" editing function, how to replace "I" personal pronoun with the name Hartford?

I am writing a short story. I want to change point of view of the story from first person "I" to the Omniscient point of view.

In my case, I want to change "I" to the name Hartford, a character in the story.

When using find/replace editing function, it replaces every "I" in the document (like the "i" in like or the "i" in in, for example).

How do I isolate "I" (first person) find to just "I" first person & replace with Hartford?

Instead of the find/replace function changing every I in the document whether upper or lower case or first person "I" in every single word in the entire document?

Tech support on the phone referred me to you.

Thanks,

V. David Mize

In the replace dialog select More >> then select Find whole words only and possibly Match case.

As AW said, it is best to select both options, "Match case" and "Find whole words only." Otherwise, you may end up with HARTFORD as the replacement text after having clicked Replace All.
