Hi Wilson,
Microsoft Edge can reinstall itself because Windows treats the Edge updater as a managed system component. Even if you uninstall the browser or block it via Group Policy or the registry, Windows Update can restore it automatically to ensure security and compatibility.
To stop this, first, disable the Edge update services and scheduled tasks: open services.msc and stop/disable the “Microsoft Edge Update Service” entries (edgeupdate.exe and edgeupdatem.exe), and remove any Edge-related tasks in Task Scheduler. Next, double-check that your registry or policy edits fully match Microsoft’s guidelines for blocking updates; partial or incorrect edits can be overridden. If Edge continues reinstalling, you can use official uninstall commands via the Edge installer (msedge.exe /uninstall) combined with the above steps, or specialized scripts designed to remove Edge safely while preventing reinstallation.
This method allows you to remove Edge and prevent it from automatically coming back without affecting other Windows functions.
