To disable this language bar, go to Settings > Time & Language > Typing > Advanced Keyboard settings > Language Bar> Set it to "Hidden" > OK.

Hello everyone;
I have a minor problem that has come up before many times after a re-install of Windows OS.There is a picture below to explain what I want to do.
That Keyboard Selection icon that WAS on my taskbar dominates over everything on my PC and is quite a nuisance.
I was able to remove it from the taskbar, but when I asked for help removing it completely from the desktop. they were absolutely lost as to what I am talking about and have now returned it to my taskbar where I do not want it.
Can someone please explain how I remove this completely from my desktop completely please.

What I was looking for is the formula to get rid of that selection choice from the desktop to the log in screen where it was before my re-install.
After logging in before re-install, that selection was not on the taskbar any more.

2026-03-18T07:00:45.54+00:00 Although this method helped, there were steps missing that did not accomplish what I wanted.
After installation of updates for 26H2 it disappeared completely from my desktop, my sign-in page as well.
The way I see it that after consulting MS Support and getting escalated to the highest level, they finally got the notifications to the program writers who did their magic with code.

To remove the keyboard selection completely from the desktop on my taskbar it has to be moved by either power shell or CMD admin to move it to the log in screen.

2026-01-22T17:48:17.3966667+00:00 Do you use both languages? Removing the additional language will hide the icon on the taskbar.
The default is to show the icon when there is more than one language or keyboard layout installed, not showing it was a bug.-
