Indeed, you do not want to use the same email address for both personal and business accounts. They should stay separate.

Can you sign into your personal account via this link: https://account.live.com?

If so, go to Your Info > Sign in preference, Add an alias.

You have two options here:

Create new: this will allow you to use the native domain outlook.com to create a new alias.

Add existing: this will allow you to add a 3rd party email address, such as yahoo, gmail, as long as they are not already associated with another Microsoft account.

Once added, make this new alias your primary alias, then you can delete the other email as alias, and that email is free from this personal Microsoft account instantly.

To change the email address associated with your personal Microsoft account, you can follow these steps:

1. Go to the Microsoft 365 Developer Program dashboard.
2. Click on your profile image in the top right corner.
3. Select My Microsoft Account to open your general Microsoft account page in a new tab.
4. In the left pane, choose Your Info.
5. In the Account Info section, select Edit account info.
6. On the Manage how you sign in to Microsoft page, you can either:
   • Add a new email account and choose Make primary.
   • Select Make primary next to an existing email account to change your primary email.

After completing these steps, your new primary email account will be associated with your personal account, which should help resolve any confusion when accessing Office applications.
