Drag and drop in new outlook

Hello,

When I try to drag and drop an email from my inbox into my calendar, I receive the error message: "Failed to create event from drag and drop." This issue started after I switched to the new Outlook.

Could you please advise on how I can resolve this?

I had the same issue with the new outlook and find out the solution.

With the email selected, from the "home" menu, click the right-most three dot, and then select "Respond" -> "Meeting". This will open a Meeting notice with the sender's email in the participants field. However, if you delete the sender's email, the "send" button will become "save", and you can save it into your outlook calendar just as in the old outlook.

Not sure how you stumbled across this one Mike, but thank you it works, this is the 3rd change to this functionality since I have been using the new Outlook; If the developers are going to introduce change to functionality they need to pop it in the whats new ... This has caused me a fair bit of grief over the last few months

@PauloBranco-0328 I dont knwo about that, but it sounds correct because when you reply to emails the attachment is not automatically included in the response.

Thanks Mike. It is too bad Microsoft is not listening to their customers. They removed an amazing feature that was working well for everyone with this new interface/version. I hope they re-consider this. Thanks

I have been using the new outlook for 12 months + and have gotten to love it... but this error started happening around December for me too - which has me opening the old outlook to create events from emails... which is incredibly painful. This was working fine for me prior to then.

Thanks Rez. I think Microsoft is missing the point here. We know we can create by click on Create Event. The whole point of the drag and drop was to save time. For someone busy with a lot of calendar events coming via email, that feature is a must. When drag and drop, everything got pre-populated, attachments came over. The email was part of the body/agenda of the meeting, this was working great! please Try to receive 20 emails/calendar events a day with attachments, and the having to download the attachments, create a new event, copy and paste, and upload again to feel the process we go through. I love the new interface, but I am trying to find a way to switch back to classic due to this feature alone.

Thank for answering. We all know how to create a calendar entry by clicking on create. This is not the point of this issue. We want the same feature we had by dragging and dropping an email to a calendar and system create an event, populated the subject, and copy the body of the email to the agenda. This is not a lot to ask. There are a lot of meetings booked every day, this feature as a time saver. How do I switch off the new interface? (I love it but without this feature really makes us less productive). Thanks

This feature was working in the New Outlook in two ways, either by opening the calendar bar on the right (no longer working) or more recently by dragging it to the calendar icon on the left (like the old outlook) - now neither method is working so l have to have the old Outlook open - which is insane - I have been fully transitioned to the new outlook almost from the start (a few reverts to the old one).
