Additional settings-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams Free
Hi, It is F1 ==> The plan for the frontline workers.
Thanks. The lowest-cost standalone Teams option is Microsoft Teams Essentials at about 4 USD/user/month, mentioned here:

The term "Teams Free" is somewhat misleading. Users can create Teams accounts for personal use which will not enquire any cost. Such accounts will be entirely decoupled from the commercial business/school account.

This free account can be created using any Microsoft account, free or paid, but in order to get additional features. paid Microsoft 365 Personal, Family or premium must be used.
Several new features, such as e.g. Call Recording, Copilot are only available in Teams "Free" (personal) account with a paid Microsoft 365 account. We can expect that more features will be added in the future.

It should also be emphasized, that users of this personal account (free or paid) are solely in charge of this account. There are no IT Admins, no policy restrictions or settings, but many features available with a business account are not available in a personal account.
Hi Daun,
The information about Free Teams is incorrect. Can you cite a source, please?
If your organization has a managed tenant (e.g., you use Business or Enterprise licenses), every active user in that organization generally needs a paid license to access Teams features within that tenant. The current Microsoft Teams (free) is designed for personal use and individuals, not for managing a corporate tenant.
It lacks essential business features like scheduled meetings, meeting recordings, and centralized administrative controls.
I hope this information helps. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out.
Otherwise, please take a moment to rate the answer. Wishing you good luck!
Yes, Microsoft Teams does offer a free license, which allows organization tenant users to use Teams without any charge. This is true and can be beneficial for organizations looking to utilize Teams for communication and collaboration without incurring costs.
Regarding your second question, it is normal that accounts created without a license cannot log in to Teams. A valid license is required for users to access Teams functionalities.
As for finding "Microsoft Teams Free" on admin.microsoft.com, it may not be explicitly listed there since it is a free offering. Instead, you can sign up for the free version directly through the Microsoft Teams website or check the Microsoft 365 plans available for education or business.
If the free Teams option is not available in your organization tenant, the cheapest plan would typically be the Microsoft Teams (Free) license, which allows basic functionalities at no cost. However, if you're looking for a paid plan, you might consider the Office 365 E1 plan, which is often one of the more affordable options for organizations needing more features than the free version provides.
