Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

May I please know if you are receiving any error code or message when launching the Outlook (Classic) program, or does the application close immediately?

Have you tried repairing your Office applications?

Go to: Start > Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > locate Microsoft 365 Apps in the list, click the three ellipsis (···) icon, select Modify, then click Repair.

Once the repair is complete, restart your computer and launch Outlook (Classic) program.

If you are still having issues, please create a new Outlook profile:

    1. Open Control Panel.
    2. Change View by to Large icons.
    3. Select Mail (Microsoft Outlook).
    4. Click Show Profiles > Add.
    5. Enter a new profile name and configure your email account.
    6. Once done, select Always use this profile and click Apply, then OK.

After that, launch the Outlook (Classic) program and check if it opens correctly.

If you are unable to open classic Outlook, even in safe mode, and you want to disable add-ins without accessing Outlook, you can try the following steps:

    1. Use the Windows Registry Editor:
      • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
      • Type regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
      • Navigate to the following path:
        • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\<version>\Outlook\Addins
        • Replace <version> with your version of Office (e.g., 16.0 for Office 2016).
      • Here, you will find a list of add-ins. You can disable them by changing the value of the LoadBehavior key for each add-in to 0.
    2. Remove Add-in Files:
      • If you know which add-ins are causing issues, you can also manually delete their files from the add-ins folder. Typically, these are located in:
        • C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office<version>\ADDINS
      • Delete or rename the folders of the add-ins you suspect are causing the problem.
    3. Safe Mode:
      • If you need to run Outlook in safe mode, you can try using the command:
        • outlook.exe /safe
      • This may allow you to access Outlook with minimal functionality to disable add-ins from there.
    4. Repair Office:
      • If the above steps do not work, consider repairing your Office installation through the Control Panel. Go to Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and choose the repair option.

These steps should help you disable problematic add-ins and potentially allow Outlook to start normally.
