Is there a way to increase the taskbar height in Windows 11?

In Windows 10, I could unlock the taskbar from Settings and manually adjust its height by dragging it. In Windows 11, I don’t see an option to unlock or resize the taskbar. Has this functionality been removed, or is there an alternative supported method?

    Hi BryanC,

In Windows 10, as you mentioned, the taskbar could be unlocked and manually resized by dragging. However, in Windows 11 this functionality has been removed from the standard user interface. The taskbar is now fixed in height and cannot be adjusted through Settings or by dragging.

Currently, there is no supported method to increase or decrease the taskbar height in Windows 11. While some registry modifications have been shared in community forums, these are not officially supported and may lead to unexpected behavior or compatibility issues with future updates. For stability and reliability, we recommend avoiding unsupported tweaks.

That said, Microsoft continues to evolve Windows 11 based on user feedback, and taskbar customization is a frequently requested feature. I encourage you to share your input through the Feedback Hub app, which helps our product teams prioritize enhancements.

In the meantime, if your goal is to maximize screen space or improve accessibility, there are alternative options such as adjusting display scaling, customizing icon sizes, or using virtual desktops. These can provide more flexibility without modifying the taskbar itself.

I hope this clarifies the current state of taskbar resizing in Windows 11. If you find this answer helpful, please consider hitting “Accept Answer” so others can benefit from it as well.

In Windows 11, the ability to resize the taskbar by dragging it, as was possible in Windows 10, has been removed. Currently, there is no supported method to increase the height of the taskbar in Windows 11. Users can customize the taskbar to some extent, such as pinning or unpinning applications, but resizing the taskbar itself is not an option available in the settings.
