My Xbox One Series X can't play any games, although apps load just fine. Everytime I try to start up a game(both discs and digital copies), the screen will either freeze, or the entire Xbox will shut off.

I have already attempted the follow to fix this:

  • Power cycle(hold power button for 10 seconds, then unplug from power source for 3 minutes)
  • Freed up memory space to 60% free
  • Reinstalled OS
  • Uninstall and reinstall games
  • Made sure vents are clear of dust, inspected fan(it is working)

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like you've already taken several troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue with your Xbox One Series X. Since apps are loading fine but games are not, the problem might be related to the game software or the console's hardware. Here are a few additional suggestions you can try:

    1. Check for System Updates: Ensure that your console is running the latest system software. Sometimes, updates can fix bugs that affect game performance.
    2. Clear Cache: You can try clearing the cache of your Xbox. This can sometimes resolve issues with games freezing or crashing. To do this, power cycle your console again, but this time hold the power button for 10 seconds and then unplug it. Wait for a few minutes before plugging it back in.
    3. Test with Different Games: If possible, try playing different games to see if the issue is consistent across all titles. This can help determine if the problem is with specific games or the console itself.
    4. Check for Overheating: Even though you mentioned that the fan is working, ensure that the console is in a well-ventilated area and not overheating. If it feels hot to the touch, it may shut down to prevent damage.
    5. Factory Reset: As a last resort, consider performing a factory reset on your console. This will erase all data, so make sure to back up your save files if possible.

If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be best to contact Xbox Support for further assistance, as there could be a hardware issue that requires professional repair.
