Why do some of my images have a white page icon for the thumbnail instead of the image?

Try rebuilding the thumbnail cache using the batch file here:

A user over at elevenforum.com had a similar issue and it turned out to be caused by Google Drive.

Do you have Google Drive or any other cloud storage software, such as DropBox, Box, or iDrive, installed?

OneDrive can also cause this issue. That appeared to have been eliminated by testing from another folder, but it's hard to be certain without testing with another account that is free of OneDrive.

Please test with another local user account to verify that the issue is specific to your user profile. If it works fine with a different local account, and it's not a thumbnail cache issue, then it's very likely caused by some software specific to your account.

Open File Explorer and click the three dots (...) in the top menu bar.

    Select Options.

    Go to the View tab.

Ensure the box "Always show icons, never thumbnails" is unchecked.

    Click Apply and then OK.
