I originally posted this problem with Realtek's driver for USB WiFi 802.11ac, version 1030.52.424.2025. So even though that conversation has been locked, I feel obligated to report that finally Realtek resolved the problem. Was it related to my insider build? Not sure.
Just a couple of days ago, Windows Update sent out version 1030.52.1216.2025 of this driver. Problem solved!
Not just that, but when I did netsh wlan show interfaces on the command prompt, the older driver had a tough time ever showing 50% or more signal strength, which seemed surprisingly bad, considering I'd never had a weak signal problem. Now, it shows 100%. More like it!
Hi,
Realtek drivers can be found here:
It sounds like you experienced issues with the Realtek WiFi driver version 1030.52.424.2025, which resulted in poor signal strength. It's great to hear that the update to version 1030.52.1216.2025 resolved the problem and improved your signal strength to 100%.
If the rollback option is grayed out, it may be due to the system not retaining the previous driver version or because the driver was updated through Windows Update, which sometimes prevents rolling back to an older version. You might want to check if the driver is still listed in the Device Manager under "Driver Details" to see if you can revert to it manually or if you need to reinstall the older version if necessary.
For future reference, keeping your drivers updated is essential for optimal performance, especially with network drivers like those from Realtek.
