I can play back a recording from within Teams but when I try to download the recording i get an instant messaging saying "Recording Downloaded" but no file has been downloaded. I get the same message using the web browser version of Teams. It worked for a while but has recently stopped working.

    Hi Darren,

Answers to your questions are below but I did find a solution today that seems to have resolved it.
I signed out of both the App and the Web version, signed back in and the downloads successfully work now. I had tried to close the app and right click on the taskbar Teams icon and click "Quit Teams" prior to signing out of Teams but that was not enough to get it to fully reset.

Thank you for your attention with this issue.

    Dave

    • Which type of account did you use to sign in to the Teams meeting (personal or business account)? ......Personal
    • Was this a channel meeting or a private meeting?.....Private meeting recordings and any uploaded files would not download either.
    • Were you the meeting organizer or a participant?......Both as an organizer and a participant the downloads would not work. I instantly got a message that they Downloaded Successfully but no files would appear in the designated download folder.
    • Have you tried clearing the cache to check whether the issue still persists? .....I had tried 3 different browsers clearing the cache in all of them using the web version and they all had the same result.

    Dear @David Cook,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, Teams recordings play back correctly, but when you click Download, it shows “Recording Downloaded” and no file is saved. This happens in both the Teams app and the web version, and it worked previously but recently stopped. For better understanding your situation, could you please provide some more details information as:

    • Which type of account did you use to sign in to the Teams meeting (personal or business account)?
    • Was this a channel meeting or a private meeting?
    • Were you the meeting organizer or a participant?
    • Have you tried clearing the cache to check whether the issue still persists?

Please kindly noted that the more detail information you provide, the more effectively I can support.

Thank you for your understanding and looking forward to your update.

If you are experiencing issues with downloading Teams recordings, there could be a few reasons for this behavior. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can consider:

    1. Check Permissions: Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to download the recording. If the download is blocked by your organization’s policy, you may need to contact your IT administrator.
    2. Download Settings: If your organization has set the -ChannelRecordingDownload policy to block downloads, you will only be able to view the recordings without downloading them. Check with your Teams admin to see if this setting is affecting your ability to download recordings.
    3. Browser Issues: Sometimes, browser settings or extensions can interfere with downloads. Try using a different browser or clearing your current browser's cache and cookies.
    4. App Updates: Ensure that your Teams app is up to date. An outdated app may cause issues with functionalities like downloading recordings.
    5. Network Issues: Check your internet connection to ensure that it is stable. A poor connection might prevent files from downloading properly.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to refer to the troubleshooting guide for meeting recordings in Teams for more specific solutions.
