I had no problem in the previous version 17.5.
I attached my ActivityLog.xml as well.
I tried all the techniques here as well https://stackoverflow.com/questions/17574089/how-can-i-fix-the-microsoft-visual-studio-error-package-did-not-load-correctly.
But again, this is a brand new installation.

Actually Safe Mode produced a lot more errors.. Cleaning caches did not help.

This is a serious issue - Visual Studio Preview 17.7 has the same issue. To make matters worse, you cannot download specific versions of VS2022 Community.
I found that out when I uninstalled, then tried to reinstall 17.5, but that's not possible - you can only install 17.6.
Because I uninstalled I wasn't able to rollback to 17.5 which you can normally do via the Visual Studio Installer.
I've had to revert to using VS2019 but that only goes up to .NET 5.0, so I'm going to have to downgrade our existing prod applications to the unsupported .NET 5.0 from .NET 6.0.
This is totally unacceptable. Microsoft VS dev team - are you going to address this issue?

Hello everyone, please update your Visual Studio 2022 to the latest version 17.6.2 and check if it is fixed.
Installing v17.6.2 fixed this for me.

I had to uninstall the dysfunctional VS17.6 and install back the working VS17.5.5.
Microsoft has "fixed version bootstrappers" available for installation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/releases/2022/release-history#updating-your-installation-to-a-specific-release
Worked for me. Will stay at 17.5.5 for now.

I'm only using the community edition and cannot download 17.5.5 which was working fine. Not sure what I can do. Can't even put in a debug breakpoint. The whole IDE is completely stuffed.
Same here. I've tried rolling back to 17.5.5, now I've uninstalled & reinstalled VS altogether. Same issue.

So going back to 17.5.x didn't fix the issue?

I have the same issue too following the last update (VS 2022 Professional 17.6.0)
Concerned I'm going to have to reinstall my machine just to get VS working again

same here: VS17.6 + Win11 = trouble!!!!
Updated VS17.5.x on Win10 without any issues. It's the Win11 + VS17.6 issue!

Could you successfully launch your Visual Studio 2022 in Safe Mode (run devenv /SafeMode in Developer Command Prompt for VS 2022)?
If your VS2022 works fine in safe mode, it may be caused by the installed extensions.
You can disable or uninstall the installed extensions under Extensions > Manage Extensions > Installed.

It's totally broken for me.
I also hope for a quick fix for this.
It's absolutely nothing to do with extensions, the same thing happens with a clean install.
This is to do with a buggy version which needs addressing urgently.
Completely broken, cannot debug, cannot rollback, stuck on a completely broken IDE for a week now. Installed Update 17.6.1, did nothing to address this issue.
Please FIX THIS URGENTLY.
