Why is Outlook calendar on android not letting me add new events in the future?

Until yesterday, if I wanted to add an event into my Outlook calendar on android for any day after today I simply clicked on the date and added the event. Today 24 Jan when I click on a date, eg 5 Feb, the calendar goes to that date but when I click the + to add the event it goes back to today's date. Howevet. If I add the 5 Feb event on my Google calendar it does sync and appear in Outlook. Any suggestions would be appreciated, but I have uninstalled Outlook and reinstalled and cleared caches but the problem still persists.

So....the workaround is to long press on the calendar on the date you want to add an event. A new event window will open for that date and time. Unfortunately clicking the little calendar+; floating button at the bottom still opens a new event window with the current date. But at least the long press does provide a way to add events to the correct date.

All suggestions don't work. Latest update around Jan 20th introduced this bug. Please fix it! Its easy to reproduce: 1. Open outlook mobile calendar on Android, 2. Go to a day in the future, 3. Click the + to add event. Notice the day for the event is always today, not the future day you had selected. Bug!

Here is how CoPilot responded to this query: *"MS Calendar app on Android: In Month view after tapping the date, and selecting Add, the date selected by tapping the day is changed to Today. How to fix? This is new, when was it changed?" Copilot directed me to this thread. Here is what Copilot said:

*Short answer: This is a known Outlook for Android bug introduced by a recent update. When you tap a date in Month view and then hit Add (+), the app incorrectly jumps back to Today instead of using the selected date. Microsoft moderators and users began reporting the issue in late January 2026, immediately after an Outlook mobile update

Is there a fix?: Unfortunately, no permanent fix has been released yet (based on current public information).

Work Around: Manually change the date after tapping Add.

    • Annoying, but functional until Microsoft patches the bug.

Does no one check on these things before you force an update on us? It's infuriating!! I have the same issue, plus also, when I start an email on my phone, the curser now defaults to the body of the email, instead of the recipient. Who asked for this update?? I have read your 'solutions' above but they are all a pain in the arse for someone with no interest in technology! I also don't have time to find solutions. Stop changing things for the sake of it!!

It sounds like you are experiencing a synchronization issue with your Outlook calendar on your Android device. Here are a few suggestions that might help resolve the problem:

    1. Recreate ActiveSync Relationship: Sometimes, the ActiveSync relationship can become corrupted. You can try removing the ActiveSync relationship from your mobile device and then re-establishing it. This can often resolve syncing issues.
    2. Check for Updates: Ensure that both your Outlook app and your Android operating system are up to date. Sometimes, bugs are fixed in newer versions of the app or OS.
    3. Disable Add-ins: If you have any Outlook add-ins enabled, try disabling them as they might interfere with calendar functionality.
    4. Restart Your Device: A simple restart can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
    5. Check Permissions: Ensure that the Outlook app has the necessary permissions to access your calendar.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consult the Microsoft Community for further assistance.
