“After installing preview update KB5074105 (26200.7705), opening Settings → System → Storage triggers a UAC prompt. This did not occur before the update. I have confirmed that:

• Storage Service is normal

• RequiredPrivileges includes the correct entry

• Storage Sense reset didn’t help

• Troubleshooter didn’t help

• Re-registering Settings didn’t help

• I can’t uninstall the preview update

System operates normally, other than nuisance of UAC prompt appearing for a simple storage check'

Any clue how to eliminate this bothersome isue?

Turns out that this UAC requirement to access storage was an intentional configuration addition for safety concerns. Just found this online when looking through some of the issues other users have had with KB KB5074105 (26200.7705). It had not been listed in earlier readings of improvements the update made..

The optional preview updates are basically a beta version of next months update and they may contain bugs, it is best to not install Optional Preview updates by disabling the switch to 'Get the latest updates as soon as they are released' on the updates settings window.

Are you able to get past the UAC prompt to access the storage settings.

This is not yet a reported bug in that KB5074105 preview update, what happens if you try to uninstall the update, is there an error or is it not in the list of updates that can be uninstalled.
