I have a pair of headphones I've been using with no issues for 3 years, yesterday these stopped working on the right side, I thought this was an issue with the headphones themselves so I switched to a new pair, recently bought with no previous issues, used them for about 4 hours and now they're having the same issue of not working on the right speaker whilst being louder on the left, switching to a different device does not fix them, does anyone know what's going on and how to maybe fix it?

    Hi! Let me help you.

What type of connection do you use for your headphones to your laptop?

USB or the 3.5mm audio analog port?

It sounds like you might be experiencing a jack detection issue or a problem with the audio settings on your laptop. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Check the Headphone Connection: Ensure that your headphones are properly plugged into the audio jack. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause audio issues.
    2. Test with Different Devices: Since you've already tried different headphones and devices, it may be worth checking if the audio jack on your laptop is functioning properly. Try using a different set of headphones to see if the issue persists.
    3. Sound Control Panel: Open the Sound Control Panel by typing mmsys.cpl in the command prompt. Check if both the left and right audio channels are enabled and functioning. Right-click in the Sound Control Panel and select "Show Disabled Devices" to ensure all devices are visible.
    4. Update Audio Drivers: Make sure your audio drivers are up to date. You can check for updates in Device Manager under the audio section.
    5. Check for Hardware Issues: If the problem continues, there might be a hardware issue with the audio jack itself. Inspect it for any debris or damage that could be causing the problem.
    6. Run Troubleshooters: You can run the audio troubleshooter in Windows. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and find the audio troubleshooter to run it.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be worth consulting with a technician to check for any underlying hardware problems with your laptop's audio system.
