Microsoft Word for Windows Find and Replace dialog not appearing

When you press CTRL + F or CTRL + H, the application flashes briefly, but no dialog is shown to enter your text. I checked updates and it reports that Office is up to date. I also tried starting in safe mode and the dialog is then shown.

I managed to fix it in the end by going to Task View, right clicking on the dialog and selecting Close. Then pressing CTRL + H again displayed the dialog on top of Word.

    Your description suggests that the Find & Replace dialog box (Ctrl+H) may be opening outside the current screen. If you have ever had a second screen attached, try attaching it again and see if you can drag the Find & Replace window back into view on the correct screen.
