How do I enable editing of my created documents?

Since changing my email address with microsoft office, I am only able to view. There is no button for enabling editing. All this documents are mine, created by me. The instructions online are not helping.

Also, I DO NOT want to save to OneDrive. It seems the save is automatically going to OneDrive. Perhaps this is related to the problem.

Hi! Let me help you with this issue.

Since you have changed your email address and lost the ability to edit Word documents, have you tried checking if the new email address has the correct Microsoft Office 365 subscription?

To enable editing for your Word documents, you may need to check the file attributes and settings related to your Microsoft Office account. Here are some steps you can follow:

    1. Check File Attributes: If your documents are opening in read-only mode, it might be due to the file attributes. Right-click on the document file, select Properties, and ensure that the Read-only attribute is unchecked. If it is checked, uncheck it and click Apply.
    2. Unblock the File: If the file was downloaded from the internet or transferred from another device, it might be blocked. In the Properties window, if you see an Unblock button, click it to unblock the file.
    3. Office Account Settings: Since you mentioned changing your email address, ensure that your Microsoft Office is properly activated with the new account. Sometimes, issues with activation can lead to limited functionality.
    4. Saving Location: If your documents are automatically saving to OneDrive and you prefer not to use it, you can change the default save location in Word. Go to File > Options > Save, and under the Save documents section, you can set your preferred local folder instead of OneDrive.
    5. Editing from Email Attachments: If you are trying to edit documents attached to emails, ensure that you are using a compatible version of Office. Older versions may not support direct editing from email attachments.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
