Windows 2022 and Azure AD Join

We have three Windows 2022 servers that are not domain joined since they are in a DMZ. We thought about joining them to Azure AD so Admins could log in with their cloud ID's so we do not need to manage local accounts etc..

I have read that Windows 2022 does not support Azure AD join, is this correct? If I wanted to use this, and I would need to move the VM into Azure if I wanted to do anything close to this? I did notice that someone registered the VM in Azure, which doesn't really help, but I cannot figured out how they even did this on a Windows 2022 server.

    @rr-4098

    Thank you for reaching out.

    I see that you are planning to build on-premise server with Windows Server 2022 and want to join to Azure AD.

    Please note that Azure AD Join supports Windows 10, Windows 11 but Windows Server operating systems is not supported. Please review supported devices or below documentation for list of supported operating systems.

    In case you are also exploring hosting the machine on cloud then you can use Windows virtual machines (VMs) in Azure by integrating with Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) authentication. Please review below article for details as this is currently available with specific Windows distributions.

    I hope this answers your query.
