I have a question. I can't launch the software I downloaded.

The software I downloaded is called "Winaero Tweaker."

I completed the installation and pinned it to the Start menu.

Windows11 Home 25H2

What happens when you try to start it? What anti-malware software do you use? Windows Defender or something else? It may be that the program is considered unsafe. After all, it can do some wild stuff with your machine if you use it to frivolously.

I recall that on one occasion I ran WinAreo Tweaker on machine that belongs to one of my clients. It was flagged, and someone from the IT department reach out to me and told me in no uncertain terms to uninstall it.

I have it as home as well, and so far Windows Defender has not complained, but I don't run it every day. I don't think have run any install, but just dropped a portable version in a folder.

I typically download Winareo Tweaker from the source at http://www.winaero.com.

When I go there, I see this:

Defender flags Winaero Tweaker 1.64.2 as a Trojan

This has happened again: Microsoft's in-house antivirus software flags Winaero Tweaker as "Trojan:Win32/Yomal!rfn". The issue originates from security intelligence update version 1.443.933.0. Although this constitutes a false positive, it has understandably raised a flood of concerns.

I have not used this particular version of Winaero Tweaker, but I would guess that this explains the problems you are seeing.

There are plentiful of comments to this post. I did not read them, but maybe there are workarounds mentioned.

I also installed Winareo Tweaker, but rather than worry about software that won't start, I uninstalled it cleanly.

It would be a hassle if it wouldn't start again with a future Windows Update, or if some kind of error message would appear.
