Unable to login to personal microsoft teams account

Hello. I signed up for microsoft teams using a gmail account and it has been working great for about 6 weeks. Recently, when I tried logging in to the account using the microsft app on Mac it gave me the error message:

The selected user account does not exist in tenant 'Microsoft Services' and cannot access the application '1fec8e78-bce4-4aaf-ab1b-5451cc387264' in that tenant. The account needs to be added as an external user in the tenant first. Please use a different account.

What can I do about this as I use this account frequently. I want to clarify that my email is not associated with any external or business account. It is 100% for personal use. Please help!
