Can I get Office 365 (including Outlook classic) on ARM64 now?

I tried to set up Office 365 (the bits that I use: Word, Excel and Outlook classic) on a new ARM64 PC. (I already have a subscription which is valid for up to 5 devices). Word and Excel fine, and I could find a version of Outlook but when I looked at the File menu I got the message "outlook data files are not currently available on this device".

I realised that what I have is "new Outlook" which (at least on ARM64) is unable to access .pst files. That would be a huge problem for me since that is where I store old emails.
I tried to follow some links and I got to a link to install Outlook (I thought), it gave me a copy of Officesetup.exe. I downloaded that and tried to run it, no error message, and it gave me a window saying "please stay online while MS 365 and Office downloads, we’ll be done in just a moment" but it just sat there, didn't do anything: progress stuck on 3%, no CPU, no disc, no Wifi used. After leaving it for some hours to be sure, I gave up. Then I found https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/choose-between-the-64-bit-or-32-bit-version-of-office-2dee7807-8f95-4d0c-b5fe-6c6f49b8d261 which told me quite explicitly "The following computer systems can only install 32-bit Microsoft 365. [...] 64-bit Windows 10 with ARM-based processor".
So I managed to uninstall the 64-bit MS Office software that was on the PC and installed 32-bit Office including Outlook classic. It does now seem to work, so far as I can tell (not fully set up yet) but then I discovered https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/office/end-of-support-for-32-bit-microsoft-365-apps-on-windows-arm-based-pcs-1b4d51b7-7bf3-406e-9fe7-d913e31efdd6 which tells me the 32-bit version has only a short support window.

Some other pages tell me that MS Office 365 does now work in 64-bit mode on ARM64, but the pages that I saw are not explicit about Outlook Classic, which I need.

Is it possible to get 64-bit Office, including Outlook Classic, now, on ARM64?

    Hello !

You should be able to use Office apps on an ARM64 device. The native Microsoft 365 installer (available here : https://account.microsoft.com/services) should give you the latest ARM64EC version.
Can you try to install classic Outlook with the Microsoft Store ? You can download it here : https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/xp9mhd8pgh9n47
I'm not certain that it is 100% native, but you should be able to use the app without any issues or warning messages.

Looking forward to your answer !

Currently, Microsoft 365 Apps, including Outlook, can run on ARM64 devices, but there are some limitations. As of now, the 64-bit version of Microsoft 365 Apps is supported on ARM-based devices, but you should be aware that Outlook Classic may not fully support .pst files in this environment. The 32-bit version of Microsoft 365 Apps is available, but it has a limited support window on ARM-based PCs, which you have already noted.

If you have successfully installed the 32-bit version of Office and it is working for you, that may be a temporary solution, but keep in mind that support for it will eventually end. For the best experience and to ensure compatibility with future updates, it is recommended to keep an eye on Microsoft’s announcements regarding the full support of 64-bit versions and Outlook Classic on ARM64 devices.

At this time, if you need Outlook Classic specifically for .pst file access, you may need to continue using the 32-bit version until further updates are provided by Microsoft regarding the 64-bit version's capabilities on ARM64 devices.
