    Hi Gene Roswell,
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum. I'm happy to help.

Following Q&A Assist suggestions, especially Step 3 about turning off audio enhancements, might help your computer be able to playback a bit louder.

Some third-party applications such as FXSound and Sound Booster can also help you increase the volume even more. But overpowering the volume by software might lead to lowering the sound quality because of adding distortion.

Disclaimer: Microsoft provides no assurances and/or warranties, implied or otherwise, and is not responsible for the information you receive from the third-party linked sites or any support related to technology.

If you may, please share with me your audio devices and setup. You might be able to get the volume even louder with the right setup or additional hardware, while maintain or even improve the sound quality.

I hope that above information is helpful to you.

The audio on laptops is usually not very loud and not the best quality.

    1

    Open the old Control Panel.

Set View at the top of the old Control Panel to large icons.

    Open the Sound applet.

Select your speakers on the resulting utility and click Properties.

On the next dialog, is there any enhancements available to increase the volume of your audio on the laptop?

    2

If not, the best option may be to go to the support page for your laptop on the manufacturers website, then from there, download and manually reinstall (not update) the version of HD Audio drivers they provide.

Try these steps to make audio louder or confirm it isn’t being limited elsewhere in Windows 11:

    1. Check all volume controls
      1. Select the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      2. Make sure the main volume slider is at 100.
      3. Select the arrow to the right of the slider (Select a sound output) and confirm the correct device (laptop speakers or headphones) is selected.
      4. Select the settings icon next to the Volume mixer slider (More mixer settings).
      5. In Volume mixer, make sure none of the app sliders are low or muted (no "x" icon). Raise them to match the main volume.
    2. Check device is enabled and active
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      2. Under Output, select your laptop speakers.
      3. Under Advanced, select More sound settings.
      4. On the Playback tab, select your speakers, choose Properties.
      5. Under Device usage, ensure Use this device (enable) is selected.
    3. Turn off audio enhancements Some enhancements can reduce perceived volume.
      1. Select Start > Settings > Sound.
      2. In Output, select your speakers.
      3. Scroll to Advanced settings and set Audio enhancements to Off.
    4. Make sure nothing else is taking over audio
      1. If an external monitor is connected, ensure it is not selected as the default output if it has no speakers.
        • Start > Settings > System > Sound > under Output, select your laptop speakers to set them as default.
      2. Disconnect or unplug headphones or USB audio devices and test again.
    5. Run the audio troubleshooter
      1. Select Start > Settings > System.
      2. Select Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      3. In the Audio section, select Run and apply any fixes it suggests.
    6. Update and restart
      1. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and install any available updates.
      2. Save work, then select Start > Power and choose Update and restart if available.

If volume is still very low after these steps, the limitation is likely in the hardware (speakers) or the specific app in use, and external speakers or headphones may be needed for higher volume.
