Hi,

We purchased [Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition Deluxe Collection](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/p/minecraft-java-bedrock-edition-deluxe-collection/9nqgktxr9bzf/0010"Minecraft: Java & Bedrock Edition Deluxe Collection") for our son to play on his laptop.
We are aware and understand that there are different minecraft licenses for different devices. He has PS5, Switch and iPad as well, but we have chosen minecraft to be played on PC, and after researching, we believe we have purchased the one for PC.

On the micrsoft account order history, I can see this bundle which includes Minecraft launcher, Java edition, Java&bedrock edition deluxe collection DLC and Minecraft for Windows.

I click on Minecraft for Windows, which takes me to the page where it says "you own this", but when I click on that, a little window pops up which says "Minecraft for Windows - Install this content with the Xbox app".

It says that this requires window 10 or higher (we have windows 11) and the Xbox app to play PC games.

My understanding is that we can purchase and play minecraft on PC and not require Xbox.

Please advise what's the go here.

Thanks.

Hello KRB, welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

It seems like you're misunderstanding the Xbox app with the Xbox console. Your purchase is correct for PC.

The "Xbox app" is just a Windows PC application that manages Microsoft Store games on your laptop. The Xbox console is the physical gaming device (like PS5 or Switch) – which you want to avoid.

You'll need to install the Xbox app (free from Microsoft Store) on your son's laptop to install Minecraft for Windows (Bedrock Edition). Once that's done, you can launch both Java and Bedrock editions from the Minecraft Launcher. The Xbox app is just how Microsoft Store games are delivered on Windows – your son will be playing on the laptop, not a console.

Let me know if you need any clarification.
