Windows onedrive versus Google One cloud use

I have 2 x Samsung phones, 1 x Windows 11 Laptop, 1 x iPad.

I like the Google App for Photos called "Photos".

I currently use onedrive for my cloud storage of all my Documents, & Files, etc., but NOT my photos.

I'm considering using Google One for my photos and keeping onedrive for everything else.

Is this a good idea?

Are there any pitfalls to avoid?

Is it difficult to setup and maintain?

Regards

John

Hello, glad to assist you today.

Your plan works. Many users keep photos in Google Photos and documents in OneDrive. Microsoft states OneDrive integrates with Windows 11 and File Explorer. Key points.

    • OneDrive integrates with Windows 11. Your files sync and appear in File Explorer and the Windows Photos app.

    • Google Photos works best on Android and iOS through the Google Photos app. On Windows you access photos through the web.

    • Using two services means two storage plans and two apps to manage.

    • Avoid duplicate backups. Turn off OneDrive Camera Upload if Google Photos handles photo backup.

    • Setup stays simple. Enable Google Photos backup on phones. Keep OneDrive sync active on the Windows laptop for files.

Hope it helps. Thanks, and keep safe.
