Hello. What exact error message or behavior do you see when trying to sign in (for example: password rejected, account not found, MFA failure, blank page, redirect loop, etc.)?

Common causes for suddenly not being able to sign in to the Power BI service include:

    1. Account or password issues
      • The account might no longer have an active Power BI/Microsoft 365 license.
      • The password might have expired or been changed.
      • If Self-Service Password Reset is enabled in the organization, use the Self-Service Password Reset wizard to reset the password. If that fails, use the support link shown in the wizard.
    2. Tenant or admin-related changes
      • An admin might have disabled the account, changed sign-in policies, or removed licenses.
      • If an admin, follow the guidance in Forgot sign-in password to Microsoft 365, Azure, or Intune and You can't sign in to Microsoft 365, Azure, or Intune to recover access and review sign-in issues.
      • If not an admin, contact the organization’s internal IT or Microsoft 365 admin to check the account status, license, and conditional access/MFA settings.
    3. MFA or authenticator problems
      • If sign-in fails at the MFA step (for example, Microsoft Authenticator or SMS not working), an admin must reset MFA or authentication methods in Microsoft Entra ID.
      • If the only admin is locked out, the Microsoft Data Protection team must be engaged via Microsoft Support phone channels to verify identity and restore access.
    4. Network, proxy, or TLS issues (especially with Power BI Desktop)
      • If the error appears when signing in from Power BI Desktop (not browser), a proxy or SSL/TLS trust issue might be blocking sign-in.
      • For proxy environments, admins can allow required Power BI domains on the proxy or configure UseDefaultCredentialsForProxy in the registry so Power BI Desktop can use default system proxy credentials.
      • If the error mentions “Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel”, disable the certificate revocation check in Power BI Desktop under Options and settings > Options > Security > Certification Revocation.
    5. Non-HTTPS redirect or custom sign-in pages
      • If the sign-in flow redirects to a non-HTTPS URL or to an identity provider with an untrusted certificate, Power BI Desktop sign-in fails. All redirect endpoints must use HTTPS and trusted certificates. Admins must update their identity provider configuration.
    6. Service-specific or environment issues
      • If Power BI is used with other services (for example, Business Central, Viva Insights, or Visio Visuals), incorrect or expired data source credentials can cause errors that look like sign-in problems. In those cases, update data source credentials in Power BI (Desktop or Service) as described in the relevant product’s troubleshooting steps.

If the issue persists, capture any exact error message shown on the sign-in screen and share it with the organization’s admin or support. For Power BI Desktop, enabling tracing (File > Options and settings > Options > Diagnostics > Enable tracing) and sending recent trace files to the admin can help identify proxy or redirect errors.
