Dear sir,

Greetings for you! I have downloaded and installed apps from Microsoft store, but these apps do not appear on the desktop. There is no option to send these apps to the desktop. Please tell me how can I send these apps to the desktop.

Thanks,

Sincerely,

Qasim, Pakistan

    Open your Start Menu.

    1

If you have the old Windows Start Menu, click the 'All' button at the top right to show the long alphabetical list of installed apps.

    2

If you have the new Windows 11 Start menu with the square boxes with 4 icons in each at the bottom, then click the 'Category' drop down menu and set that to List.

    3

You can then drag any app from the long alphabetical list onto your Desktop to create a new Desktop shortcut for the app.

This works for any app installed on your PC.

To get Microsoft Store apps onto the desktop or taskbar, use one of these methods.

    1. Create a desktop shortcut for any installed app
    1. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
    2. Type shell:AppsFolder and press Enter.
    3. In the Apps folder that opens, find the app.
    4. Right‑click the app and select Create shortcut.
    5. When prompted to place the shortcut on the desktop, select Yes.

This will create a shortcut icon on the desktop for that app.

    1. Pin an app to the taskbar from Start
    1. Press the Windows key to open Start.
    2. Select All apps to see the full app list.
    3. Find the app in the list.
    4. Right‑click the app.
    5. Select More (if shown), then choose Pin to taskbar.
    1. Drag from Start to desktop or taskbar (alternative)
    1. Open Start and go to All apps.
    2. Locate the app.
    3. Drag the app icon to the desktop to create a shortcut, or drag it to the taskbar to pin it.
