On Windows 10, the ms-contact-support:// (Get Help) link is handled by the built‑in Get Help app. If the link is not working or is missing, use these steps to troubleshoot Windows and still reach support:
- Run Windows Update troubleshooter from Settings
This can fix issues with system apps and components like Get Help.
- Select Start > Settings > Update & Security.
- Select Troubleshoot from the left menu.
- Select Additional troubleshooters.
- Under Get up and running, select Windows Update and then Run the troubleshooter.
- Follow the on‑screen instructions and apply any fixes it suggests.
- Back up important files before further repair steps
Before doing more advanced repair or update work, back up personal data:
- Use Windows Backup (see Back up your Windows PC in the article) or
- Copy important files to a USB drive using File Explorer, or
- Use OneDrive as described in Back up your folders with OneDrive.
- Open Get Help directly (without the link)
Even if the ms-contact-support link is broken, Get Help can usually be opened manually:
- Select Start, type Get Help, and press Enter.
- Describe the problem. If the automated help does not fix it, look for a Contact support button at the bottom.
- Contact a Microsoft support agent from Get Help
If Get Help opens but does not resolve the issue:
- When prompted, select Contact Support.
- Choose the relevant Product or service (for example, Windows).
- Complete any additional options so the request is routed correctly.
- Confirm, then choose a contact method:
- Chat with a support agent in your web browser, or
- Provide your phone number, and a support agent will call you, or
- Use the Global Customer Service Phone Numbers option if available.
- Use the online Microsoft Support site if Get Help will not open
If Get Help itself is not working at all, support can still be reached via the official Microsoft Support website and the Contact a Microsoft support agent link. From there, select the product (Windows) and follow the prompts to reach chat or phone support.
If none of these steps work and Windows components are badly damaged, a repair install or in‑place upgrade of Windows 10 might be needed, but that should only be done after backing up files as described above.
