Minecraft cards are redeemed as Microsoft/Xbox codes, so the same general redemption rules apply.
Try these steps depending on what type of code it is:
- If it is a Microsoft/Xbox gift card or balance code
- Go to https://redeem.microsoft.com.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account that will own the Minecraft license.
- Enter the full 25-character code exactly as shown (no spaces, include hyphens only if printed that way on the card).
- Select Next and follow the prompts.
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/ and sign in.
- Open Subscriptions.
- Select Redeem a code or gift card (or go to Payment & billing > Redeem).
- Enter the 25-character code and confirm.
- If it is a Minecraft/Office-style product key If the card explicitly says it is for a Microsoft 365/Office product key, redeem it at https://setup.office.com as described in the documentation, but typical Minecraft cards for Windows/Xbox are redeemed as above.
- If it is a Windows activation/product key (less likely for Minecraft) On Windows 10: Settings > Update & Security > Activation > Change product key, then enter the 25-character key.
If the code still does not work after confirming it is typed correctly and used in the correct place, use the “Problems redeeming a code?” self-help guidance from the redeem page, or the “cannot redeem a code” help link from the Rewards article if it is a Rewards-issued code.
Note: Once a gift card or code has been successfully redeemed to a Microsoft account, the value is tied to that account and cannot be moved or resold.
