On some Samsung Galaxy Book 4 and Samsung Desktop models running Windows 11 versions 24H2 or 25H2, installing recent updates around February–March 2026 can lead to loss of access to the C: drive. The error typically appears as “C:\ is not accessible – Access denied”, and it can prevent opening files and starting apps such as Outlook, Office, browsers, system tools, and Quick Assist.
This behavior has been traced to an issue in the Samsung Galaxy Connect app, not to the Windows updates themselves. The affected version of Samsung Galaxy Connect has been removed from Microsoft Store, and Samsung has republished a stable previous version to prevent the problem from occurring on additional devices. However, recovery options for devices that are already impacted are currently limited, and Samsung is continuing to evaluate remediation options with Microsoft’s support.
For a Samsung device where C: is no longer visible or accessible after the March 10, 2026 update:
- Check whether the device model is one of the affected Samsung Galaxy Book 4 or Samsung Desktop models (for example NP750XGJ, NP750XGL, NP754XGJ, NP754XFG, NP754XGK, DM500SGA, DM500TDA, DM500TGA, DM501SGA) running Windows 11 24H2 or 25H2.
- If the system is still usable, ensure Samsung Galaxy Connect is updated from Microsoft Store to the latest republished stable version (or temporarily remove it if possible) to avoid recurrence.
- If C: is already inaccessible and normal operations (including elevation, uninstalling updates, or collecting logs) fail, contact Samsung support for device-specific recovery options, as remediation on already-affected devices is still being worked on.
