Hi! Let me help you with this.

Do you have an active subscription to Microsoft Office 365?

If your subscription is active, just start your web browser on the new PC and install from https://account.microsoft.com/services.

To install Microsoft 365 on a new Windows laptop as an individual (home) user, follow these steps:

    1. On the new laptop, open a web browser and go to:
    2. Select Sign in if prompted.
    3. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that the Microsoft 365 subscription is associated with. If the account is forgotten, see I forgot the account I use with Microsoft 365 from the linked help on that page.
    4. After signing in with a Microsoft account, on the Microsoft 365 Apps page:
      1. Select Install apps.
      2. Select Install (or Install apps >, depending on what is shown). This downloads the Office setup file to the computer.
    5. When the download finishes, run the installer:
      • In Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer: select Run.
      • In Chrome: select Setup.
      • In Firefox: select Save File, then open it.
    6. If a User Account Control prompt appears asking Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?, select Yes. The installation will begin.
    7. Wait until the installer shows "You're all set! Office is installed now", then select Close.
    8. To activate Microsoft 365:
      1. Select the Start button and type Word (or another app name such as Excel).
      2. Select the app from the search results.
      3. When the app opens, accept the license agreement. Microsoft 365 will activate using the signed-in account.

If installation or sign-in issues occur (for example, no install option appears after signing in), use Need help? on the page for account questions, or use the Microsoft 365 setup troubleshooter listed in the installation help.

Note: An individual Microsoft 365 subscription allows installation on all devices and being signed in on up to five at the same time.
