Login to old minecraft account

To regain access, the Microsoft account used for Minecraft must be recovered first. The Minecraft profile itself cannot be accessed without signing in to the underlying Microsoft account.

Follow these steps based on what is remembered:

1. If the Microsoft account email (username) is forgotten:
   • Use the Microsoft “forgotten username” lookup with the phone number or alternate email that might be on the account. Steps are in Forgotten your Microsoft account username:
     • Go to the username lookup page from the article and enter the security contact phone or email.
     • Request a security code, enter it, and a hint of the Microsoft account username (for example, j*******@outlook.com) will be shown.
   • If the lookup does not find anything, check other products or services where that Microsoft account might have been used, as described under check your products or services in the same article.
2. If the Microsoft account username is known but the password is forgotten or no longer works:
   • Use the account recovery flow described in My username and password have stopped working:
     • Start from Recover your account and enter the email, phone, or Skype name used to sign in.
     • Choose where to receive a security code (phone or email), then enter the code.
     • Set a new password when prompted.
3. If sign-in still fails or the account is reported as not existing:
   • Follow the guidance in I can't sign in to my Microsoft account:
     • If the password is forgotten, use the password reset flow.
     • If the username is not recognized or messages like “We couldn't find an account with that username” appear, use the Sign-in Helper tool linked in that article.
   • If the account has not been used for more than two years, it may have been deleted and cannot be reopened, as described in Reopen your Microsoft account.

Once the correct Microsoft account is recovered and a working password is set, use that Microsoft account to sign in to Minecraft (Java or Bedrock) and the associated purchases and profile should be available again.
