Hello,

I’m currently building an AI-focused startup leveraging Azure infrastructure, and my current credits are set to expire on July 22.

Our product relies heavily on Azure services, particularly:

  • Azure OpenAI
  • Virtual Machines (compute workloads)
  • Storage and backend services

Over the past period, we’ve seen increasing usage as we continue developing and testing our product. Our infrastructure is deeply integrated with Azure, and we plan to scale further on this platform.

Given our current growth and reliance on Azure, I would like to request a credit extension or an upgrade within the Microsoft for Startups program. Continued support would allow us to:

  • accelerate development
  • increase usage of Azure services
  • remain fully committed to the Azure ecosystem

We are also open to providing product feedback, usage insights, or participating in case studies if helpful.

Thank you for your consideration.Hello,

    Hello Sanan,

Thank you for sharing more about your startup and how you’re leveraging Azure—it's great to see the momentum you're building, especially with AI and compute workloads.

Regarding your request for extending or increasing Azure credits, please note that credits provided through the Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub are governed by program eligibility, milestone progression, and verification status. These credits cannot be manually extended through Azure support. You do have a couple of options to explore:

    1. Progression within Founders Hub (Recommended) You may be eligible for additional credits by advancing to the next stage (e.g., Develop, Grow, Scale). This depends on factors such as:

    • Completion of your verification checklist
    • Engagement and product development progress
    • Active Azure usage

Accounts with higher credit tiers are typically reviewed automatically prior to expiration.

    2. Request review via Founders Hub support If you believe your case qualifies for further consideration (e.g., recent growth, active usage, or nearing a milestone), we recommend submitting a request directly through the Founders Hub portal for evaluation by the program team.

    Next Steps:

    • Review and complete all required tasks in your Founders Hub dashboard
    • Confirm your current program level and credit status
    • Raise a support request via the Founders Hub portal if needed

Hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any queries in comments.

Azure startup and Microsoft for Startups credits have fixed durations and can’t be extended beyond the defined validity periods.

From the Azure startup credit offer:

    • Initial $1,000 in credits are valid for 90 days from redemption.
    • After successful business verification, additional credits (up to a total of $5,000) expire 180 days after verification.
    • Expiration periods can’t be extended, and unused credits are forfeited when they expire.

From Microsoft for Startups Investor Offer:

    • Program duration is fixed; unlocking more credits (for example, by meeting usage milestones on services like Azure Monitor, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, or Microsoft Sentinel) increases the amount of credits but does not extend the time in the program.
    • After graduating from the Investor Offer, startups are no longer eligible for more Azure credits from Microsoft for Startups.

Available options based on the documented programs:

    1. If using the Azure startup credit offer:
      • Ensure the initial $1,000 has been redeemed and business verification completed to unlock up to $5,000 in total credits, if still within the eligibility window.
      • Be aware that credits cannot be extended beyond the 90‑day or 180‑day limits and cannot be transferred to another Microsoft account.
    2. If in the Microsoft for Startups Investor Offer:
      • Use the “Unlock More Azure Credits” path by reaching the documented usage milestone: spend $100 or more in a single calendar month on eligible services (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Purview). This can be via credits, paid usage, or a mix.
      • This increases the credit amount but does not extend the program duration.

For any billing, credit, or subscription-specific questions beyond these documented rules (for example, edge cases or special consideration), the supported path is to open a billing/support request from the Azure portal so that the billing team can review the subscription and available options.
