Hi Aaron,
BIOS updates are firmware updates that are not related to the Operating System. If you have tried Lenovo's Winflash tool and it doesn't work, please check with Lenovo support to see if there is an alternate way (i.e., booting from an USB disk) to update the BIOS for your Motherboard model.
The best course of action is to contact Lenovo support or post this in their forums. The following links can be helpful.
