    Hello,

Does this happen to Google Meet only?

If you open the Camera app, what does it say? Any error message? Or is it just a black screen? Any additional information would be helpful if you don't mind.

Most camera issues can be due to a physical privacy cover covering the lens. Make sure that's not the case.

Otherwise there is usually a physical button/key/switch you can use to turn the camera on or off. For example, most Lenovo uses F8 or Fn+F8, or a switch above the lens, HP has a camera key or a button on the side of the laptop, MSI uses F6 or Fn+F6, etc.

If you are not sure, tell me what the camera app says/shows, and then please hold down Windows + R keys, type in msinfo32.exe and hit enter. Then share a screenshot of the System Information window. That way I can know more specifically what you need for your specific model. Thanks!

In Windows, camera blocking in Google Meet is usually caused by privacy settings or app permissions.

    Try these steps:

    1. Check Windows camera privacy settings
      1. Select StartSettingsPrivacyCamera.
      2. Under Allow access to the camera on this device, select Change and turn Camera access for this device On.
      3. Make sure Allow apps to access your camera is On.
      4. Scroll down to Allow desktop apps to access your camera and turn this On as well. Browsers such as Microsoft Edge and other video conferencing apps require this.
    2. Confirm the browser has camera access
      • After enabling Allow desktop apps to access your camera, close and reopen the browser, then rejoin the Google Meet and accept the camera permission prompt in the browser if it appears.
    3. Check for physical camera switch or key
      • Some laptops have:
        • A function key (for example, Fn + key with camera icon) that toggles the webcam.
        • A hardware slider/shutter over the camera lens.
      • Ensure the camera is turned on and any shutter is open.
    4. Test the camera in another app
      • Open the built-in Camera app in Windows. If it shows a black image or error, follow the general troubleshooting steps above and from the camera article (including checking drivers and antivirus/security software that might be blocking the camera).

If the camera works in the Camera app but not in Google Meet after these steps, the issue is likely within the browser’s own site permissions and should be adjusted there (allow camera for meet.google.com).
