So my understanding is that in July 2023, user accounts that have MFA enabled will no longer be able to use SMS for MFA. You will not be able to add users to an exemption group that will allow them to still use SMS after July 2023. Microsoft will no longer support SMS for certain types of sign-ins, including sign-ins from new devices and sign-ins that require multi-factor authentication. This is being done to improve security and reduce the risk of unauthorized access.
Is this true, and will all users essentially have to use the authenticator application and hardware-based tokens?

ITM Erlandas 5 Reputation points2023-07-26T07:29:50.4533333+00:00 We have noticed that the user that sign in first from today 2023 July 25 th, were asked to download Ms autenticartor with an option to choose Not NOW. I have read ANdy David Article, it does not state that the SMS sending will be disabled, but also it is not clear for how long.

Robyn Mandalakis 5 Reputation points2023-11-09T16:44:58.4666667+00:00 I've now updated my MFA Service settings to only allow Text to phone (it had allowed all before but I always set up new users with SMS). Will this stop the system from sending notifications telling my users that they will need to switch to authenticator app ? If not, HOW can I stop getting notifications to switch to authentication and that I can only decline it 3 times max before the system forces me to get authenticator ?
