Certification renewal emails are a courtesy only. For Microsoft role-based certifications, renewal is only possible during the six months before the certification expiration date. Once a certification has expired, it cannot be renewed and must be earned again by retaking the required exam(s), even if no renewal email was received.
The official policy states that if a certification expires, it is necessary to pass the required exam(s) again to regain the certification. There is no alternative path or exception after the expiration date.
