For the last few weeks I have a repeated problem with Solitaire in the Klondike Solitaire game. The window pane is only partial and cannot be expanded and cannot play the game when it freezes. I have to END task to close the game and relaunch it.

are you working on a fix?

    Hello Maureen Parisi,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

May I know if you have had the chance to check on the AI assistant suggestion yet? If you did, may I know how it goes?

Before we proceed further, may I know if this happens in any other games? Additionally, may I know your Windows version and edition? You can check it be typing "Winver" in the search bar and press Enter.

    I'm waiting for your reply.

The described behavior matches a general app/window rendering issue rather than a specific, documented Solitaire bug in the provided context. A supported fix path is to treat it as a Microsoft Store app problem and a Windows display/app issue.

Try the following steps in order:

    1. Close and reopen Microsoft Solitaire Collection
After it freezes, use End task in Task Manager as already done, then relaunch the game.
    2. Update Windows
Make sure Windows has the latest updates installed:
Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates, then install any available updates.
    3. Update Microsoft Store and the game
Open Microsoft Store > See more (⋯) > Downloads and updates > Get updates. This will update Microsoft Store and installed Store apps, including Microsoft Solitaire Collection, if an update is available.
    4. Repair or reset the app
Use the Windows 10 app repair/reset flow described in the Store troubleshooting article:
Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, select Microsoft Solitaire Collection, then choose Advanced options and use Repair first. If the issue persists, use Reset (this may clear app data such as local settings/progress).
    5. Reinstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection
If repair/reset does not help, uninstall the game, then reinstall it from Microsoft Store:
Open the Microsoft Solitaire Collection page in Microsoft Store and select Install.
    6. If the issue appears tied to window resizing
For older Windows versions (Windows 8/Windows Server 2012) there is a known issue where child windows in some apps display incorrectly when resized, fixed by installing update rollup 2836988. If using one of those versions, install that rollup as documented.

Regarding whether a specific fix is being worked on for Klondike Solitaire: the provided context only confirms general Store-app and display fixes and does not list an active Solitaire-specific bug. Keeping Windows and Microsoft Store apps fully updated is the supported way to receive any fixes Microsoft releases.
