How do I get an extension on time to use Microsoft Startup (Founders Hub) Benefits?

I am reaching out regarding our existing Agentic Data Systems Microsoft for Startups Hub benefits (Founders Hub) / resource allocations that are set to expire on April 17th.  Need help getting lodging a formal request for an extension of the 1 year limit on usage for Microsoft products and Azure credits.  The Company was lacking the appropriate structure, leadership, and resources at the time of the application.  This resulted in delayed usage of the resources allotted, especially from an Azure consumption perspective.  The ramp up on usage of Microsoft products and azure consumption did not ramp up until January 2026.  We need a concession and an extension of 6 months to use the remaining Azure credits and Microsoft Office 365 Business Premium.  Time is of the essence due to the approaching deadline of Microsoft Products access.  Thank you so much in advance for your time, help, guidance, and consideration.

Hey Wendi, thanks for outlining what’s going on—sounds like you’ve barely started using your Founders Hub benefits and now you’re about to lose some of them. Here’s what you can try:

Confirm your program • Microsoft for Startups Investor Offer (Founders Hub) – provides your tiered Azure credits (Ideate, Develop, Grow, Scale) with no rigid “use-it-within-12-months” expiration on the Azure credits themselves. • Microsoft 365 Business Premium benefit – does expire 12 months after activation and, per the program terms, can’t be extended.

Requesting an extension for Azure credits Although the Investor Offer credits don’t have a fixed one-year cutoff, if your subscription or portal access is about to be disabled: a. Sign in to the Startups portal (https://portal.startups.microsoft.com) as your startup administrator. b. Go to the Support or Help section and open a Program Support request. c. Choose the category “Program benefits” or “Extension request,” then explain: – Your company name and tenant ID – Which benefit you’re asking to extend (Azure credits) – Original activation date and remaining credit balance – Justification for the 6-month extension (e.g. leadership changes, delayed ramp-up) d. Hit Submit. The Azure Startups team typically routes these to the right folks—just stress the business impact and your timeline.

Microsoft 365 Business Premium Unfortunately this benefit is strictly 12 months from activation and the docs note it cannot be extended. Once it expires, you’ll need to purchase a new subscription or work with your reseller/partner for licensing.

If you’re on the older “Azure for Startups” sponsorship (the $1K/$5K offer), those credits expire 90 days after redemption (or 180 days after verification) and similarly can’t be extended—your only path is to fully activate and consume, or re-apply for a fresh sponsorship when you’re ready.

Hope that helps you lodge the right support ticket in the Startups portal. If there’s any confusion about which offer you’re on or how to find your tenant/program ID, let me know!

Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub Azure credits and other benefits (such as Microsoft 365 licenses) are time-bound sponsorships and do not roll over or get extended beyond their defined term.

For similar Azure sponsorship/grant programs, the documented rules are:

    • Unused Azure credits do not roll over after the benefit/grant year ends.
    • Grant/credit amounts and durations are not increased or extended beyond the standard offer.

Therefore, an extension of the 1-year usage window or a 6‑month concession for remaining Azure credits or Microsoft 365 licenses is not supported as part of the standard program terms.

To proceed and get an authoritative answer for this specific startup account:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft for Startups Portal and review the current offer details and end date for the Founders Hub benefits.
    2. If there are any issues or questions about billing/credits on the Azure Sponsorship subscription, open a billing/support request in the Azure portal so a support engineer can review the subscription and sponsorship details.
    3. For broader program/benefit questions (for example, confirmation of eligibility for future offers), use the Microsoft for Startups support and advisory channels:
      • Use the Founders Hub portal → Guidance → Get paired with an advisor for program and architectural guidance.
      • Use Microsoft Q&A for Azure-technical questions under the Azure Startups tag.

These channels can confirm the applicable terms for the specific Founders Hub offer and advise on next steps once the current benefits expire (for example, transitioning to pay-as-you-go or other startup offers).
