Good morning,

I have been getting an error lately when going to my outlook mail. Olk.exe - Entry point not found. I have gone on line and followed the instructions but it keeps coming back. So I removed outlook mail and reinstalled it. Thought it was corrected but this morning it's back. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Ed

Known Bug. May be in multiple New Outlook for Windows Versions released in April 2026.

The April 2026 build of New Outlook introduced a packaging bug where olk.exe calls into Microsoft.Windows.Workloads.dll for a function that isn’t exported

    Thanks, Ed.

    Try this, please.

Press Windows + R, type %localappdata%\Microsoft, and press Enter.

Delete the Olk and OneAuth folders.

    Restart Outlook.

This only removes temporary Outlook data that will be recreated automatically. Please try reconfiguring the account and let me know.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

    @Ed Berlad said

I just wanted to say that the issue is back!

I worked a similar issue back in Dec 2025
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/5649395/new-outlook-refuses-to-start-any-suggestions

At that time some users found that they had to both remove the New Outlook for Windows App and clear their New Outlook profile (as was suggested by @Sumit D - IA

    • Exit the Outlook. (Make sure it's not hiding in your Taskbar)
    • Uninstall Outlook using the normal Windows Uninstall. Settings -> Apps ...
    • Open a Windows Explorer to %LocalAppData%\Microsoft
    • Find and delete the "Olk" folder (or rename to "Olk_OLD").
    • Find and delete the "OneAuth" folder (or rename to "OneAuth_OLD")
    • Install a fresh copy of New Outlook for Windows from the Microsoft Store.
    • Run Outlook and add back your email accounts and redo all of your settings.

If you have multiple email accounts, add them one-at-a-time, and close and re-open Outlook after you add each one.

    Hi Ed,

Since you mentioned OLK I think you might be using New Outlook instead of the classic one. I assume you have Classic Outlook.

    In the Windows search,

Type cmd, right-click it, and choose Run as Administrator.

    Copy and paste this command:

    reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Preferences" /v UseNewOutlook /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

Could you please let me know if the Classic Outlook now works?

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.
