Dear Microsoft Help Team,

I am trying to create a Microsoft account for my Friend, we are putting it as a different name than her actual name. But every time we try to, we keep getting the "Account creation has been blocked"

Hi! Please don't post personal information on this forum, such as email addresses. This forum is public and anyone can see it.

Do you usually create other email accounts on your computer, or using the same internet connection?

Microsoft may have blocked it due to spam, or identified some activity on your network or location.

    Try these tests:

    1. Test in other browsers, such as Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
    2. Test on another computer, or try creating the account in a mobile browser.
    3. Use a different internet connection. You can use a different Wi-Fi network on your phone or computer, or mobile data.

"Account creation has been blocked" typically occurs when Microsoft detects activity that looks suspicious or violates the Microsoft Services Agreement. Common triggers include:

    1. Unusual or risky sign-up behavior
      • Creating accounts in a way that deviates from normal patterns (for example, many attempts from the same device, IP, or network) can be flagged as unusual activity.
      • Heavy or compromised traffic from a specific geographic location can also cause temporary blocking.
    2. High volume or automated-looking activity
      • Using scripts, bots, or repeatedly trying to create multiple accounts in a short time can cause a temporary or permanent block.
      • Reusing similar details (names, aliases, phone numbers, or emails) across many new accounts can also trigger a block.
    3. Possible Terms of Service violations
      • Microsoft forbids using its services for spam, phishing, malware, or creating multiple accounts to bypass policies.
      • If the system believes the new account might be used for these purposes, it may block creation.

    What to try next:

    1. Wait and reduce repeated attempts
      • Avoid repeatedly trying to create the account, as this can extend or worsen the block.
      • Waiting 24 hours (and up to several days) before trying again can allow temporary protections to clear.
    2. Use a different network and device
      • Try creating the account from a different network (for example, switch from home Wi‑Fi to mobile data, or vice versa).
      • If possible, use a different device and browser, with cache and cookies cleared.
    3. Use accurate, consistent information
      • Ensure the account details comply with Microsoft’s Microsoft Services Agreement and are not associated with automated or bulk account creation.
    4. If the account or Outlook.com mailbox is already created but blocked
      • If the issue is with an Outlook.com/Microsoft account that already exists and is now blocked, use the Sign-in Helper to start the unblock process and follow the prompts.

If blocks continue even after waiting and changing network/device, it may be necessary to stop attempting new account creation for a longer period and instead use an existing Microsoft account.
