Visual Studio is having trouble with the account/tenant it’s trying to use and is asking to re‑enter credentials. Use these steps that are recommended for CA/MFA and directory issues:
- Sign out of the account inside Visual Studio.
- In Visual Studio, go to Tools → Options → Accounts.
- Clear any problematic tenants by unchecking Authenticate across all Azure Active Directories.
- Close the Options dialog.
- Sign in again with the same Microsoft account when prompted.
After this, Visual Studio will put the account in a filtered state so only the default tenant and its resources are used, which avoids the failing directories.
If the problem persists or you see repeated reauthentication prompts, capture the behavior and logs for investigation:
- In Visual Studio, select the feedback icon in the upper‑right corner.
- Choose Report a Problem.
- Describe that sign‑in to Visual Studio fails while Teams/Outlook work, and include screenshots of the “Re‑enter your credentials” dialog and error.
- Submit the report so the Visual Studio team can analyze the sign‑in failure.
